Bonefish & Tarpon Research Center. Who are we? We are a consortium of research-driven groups – Bonefish and Tarpon Unlimited (BTU), The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), The University of Miami (UM), and The Wildlife Foundation of Florida (Foundation). Each partner provides crucial support based on their expertise. They also share the common goal of developing and funding critical research for the bonefish and tarpon fisheries in Florida, the United States, and the World.
BTU is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization based in South Florida, but with a worldwide presence. They provide funding and marketing support to the BTRC. FWC is a state agency in Florida charged with managing Florida's fish and wildlife resources. The UM Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is one of the premier oceanagraphic research insitutes in the world. UM provides academic advisement and research capabilities to the BTRC. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) based in Northern Florida, but has a state-wide presence. The Foundation provides fund-raising and fund-management support to the BTRC.
